The Central Oregon Spinners and Weavers Guild (COSW) is located in Central Oregon serving Crook, Deschutes and Jefferson Counties. With renewed interest in the fiber arts Central Oregon Spinners and Weavers Guild grew to over 100 members in 2017. The guild meets twice a month in an attempt to accommodate the wide demographics of the membership. The guild’s business meeting is followed by an educational program on weaving, spinning, felting or any other fiber education program guild members express interest in. The guild maintains fiber arts related library with books covering many of the fiber related arts, weaving, spinning, felting, basketry, beading just to name a few topics. The guild also maintains an equipment check out resource for active guild members. The equipment includes tools for fiber preparation, spinning and weaving. As a member in good standing of the guild you will have access to the guild library and guild equipment.
The guilds creed is to educate members and the public about fiber arts. To accomplish this, COSW offers workshops throughout the year as well as participating in activities in in public places. Guild members support the central Oregon art community by demonstrating the art of weaving and spinning in a number of public venues. You will the guild in the fiber arts room at the county fairs, in public libraries, and art walks. January – February 2018 brings the Weaving Guilds of Oregon (WEGO) traveling show “Color Gone Wild” to Central Oregon Community College. Check out the Meeting and Events tab for current information.
COSW encourages all ages to experience the wonderful world of fiber arts. COSW offers a family membership to encourage all ages to join in the fun. 2018 promises to be a year filled with wonderful workshops and education from our local instructors.
